Towards the end of 2017 Chrystle Campeo of Sweet Fields Photography offered to shoot portraits of our horses. I had seen some of the portrait shots Chrystle had take of her own and her mother’s horses and they were gorgeous. Having worked with Chrystle previously for our ‘family portrait’ photos I already knew just how talented and skilled she was.
As someone who can never get enough shots of my stunning mare I jumped at this opportunity. While I had originally planned to have Nonie plaited for these photo’s a very early start that same day for lessons with Danielle Keogh meant that I had run out of energy. We settled for a good scrub and polish. I think we can all agree that the end product was stunning regardless.
It was really cool to get to see ‘behind the scenes’ of this type of photo shoot. The images were taken in front of one of the stable blocks against a black sheet. I was crouching behind Nonie’s shoulder on the opposite side to the camera to make sure she stayed in position. On the off side of the camera a helper was holding a handful of hay to get Nonie’s attention. Once Nonie realised that the sheet was not going to eat her Chrystle was able to work her magic.
